Family, food and fun are the three landmarks of the 2008 National Sand Bass Festival as it has been since its beginning. Businessmen and community leaders designed the Sand Bass Festival to bring the resources of Madill and Marshall County into the spotlight and festivals were held each summer from 1963 through 1975. The crowds grew from a few thousand to over 20,000 people from across the nation. The Festival was discontinued but not forgotten. Efforts began the summer of 1987 to bring back the Festival and the 2008 National Sand Bass Festival marks the 33rd time the Square will be filled with Sand Bass Festival fun..

   There is something for the entire family - from tiny babies to great-grandparents. Free concerts by Nashville Recording Artists, carnivals, car shows, arts and crafts booths, terrapin races, baby crawling contests, talent shows, fishing contests and more "good wholesome family fun." This family atmosphere brings thousands of guests to Madill and Marshall County each year to enjoy the National Sand Bass Festival.
